Week 44/2026
This Week in Agentic Commerce
🇪🇺 EU · Mastercard: Agent Pay enabled in Europe at network level
On 26 October 2026, Fortune reported on «Agent Pay for Machines»: companies define an agent’s task, permissions and spending limit. Payment is made with a digitally signed payment voucher, and micropayments are also supported. For Europe, according to Mastercard, all European issuers are enabled for Agent Pay at network level, and several banks have completed controlled live transactions with passkeys, including an end-to-end case with Worldline and ING. This is not a broad rollout to consumers.

🌐 Global · Shopify opens catalog, cart and checkout to every agent
In its Fall '26 Edition on 28 October 2026, Shopify makes Shop Pay the checkout inside AI agents such as ChatGPT, Claude, Meta Muse, Grok, Copilot and Gemini. The buyer approves the order. According to Shopify, catalog, cart and checkout are open to every agent and every app. The connectors work with nine agents and can also be used to manage products, inventory and orders. The sources do not say whether or from when this applies to merchants in Europe.

In case you missed these earlier developments
🇩🇪 DE · ShopAgentic: Five AI agents in operation at BOGNER
According to t3n on 16 October 2026, ShopAgentic already has five specialised agents live at BOGNER, with around 60 more in development. They are meant to take routine work off merchants: product information, inventory monitoring, order processing. These are merchant-side agents, not buying agents. But the deployment at a German retailer is already running.

Three to-dos for tomorrow
- Ask your acquirer or PSP in writing whether and from when they accept Agent Pay transactions and how you can recognise such payments in checkout.
- If you run on Shopify, clarify whether the agent channels and Shop Pay in agents are offered for your shop and your market, and check whether your product data is clean enough to hold up in agents.
- Ask your fraud prevention provider how it handles agent traffic today. Letting legitimate agents through while blocking bots has to be configured deliberately.
