Week 45/2026
This Week in Agentic Commerce
🇨🇭 CH · Galaxus and Digitec: AI agents can shop and pay
Why it matters for you: If you sell in Switzerland through Galaxus or Digitec, AI agents already find, compare and buy your products there today. Incomplete product data now costs sales directly.
What happened: Galaxus allows AI agents to shop; with access to the account and payment details, the agent also pays. Digitec has also set up its own interface for AI agents, which providers can use.

🇪🇺 EU · Klarna backs Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol
Why it matters for you: If you sell online and use Klarna, Adyen or PayPal, UCP gives you a standard through which AI agents order from you directly. Your payment provider helps decide whether agents can buy from you.
What happened: Klarna supports the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), after Adyen and PayPal. There is no start date for Europe yet; according to Google, checkout via UCP is so far limited to markets such as the US, Canada and Australia.

🇪🇺 EU · Visa: AI agents buy from European merchants such as lastminute.com and Frasers
Why it matters for you: Sellers of travel, goods and digital products who take card payments now get AI agents as paying buyers. If you can recognise and admit agents, you get chosen; if you block them, you drop out of the selection.
What happened: According to Visa, AI agents in Europe completed real purchases at merchants such as lastminute.com, Frasers, Cleverbridge and BrickDepot, confirmed with Visa Payment Passkeys. Merchants recognised the agents through the Trusted Agent Protocol; no independent review is available.

🇪🇺 EU · Mastercard: Agent Pay enabled in Europe at network level
On 26 October 2026, Fortune reported on «Agent Pay for Machines»: companies define an agent’s task, permissions and spending limit. Payment is made with a digitally signed payment voucher, and micropayments are also supported. For Europe, according to Mastercard, all European issuers are enabled for Agent Pay at network level, and several banks have completed controlled live transactions with passkeys, including an end-to-end case with Worldline and ING. This is not a broad rollout to consumers.

Three to-dos for tomorrow
- This week, check whether price, delivery time, availability and terms of your three most important products or services are described publicly so clearly that an AI agent can compare them without asking.
- Ask your shop provider and your payment service provider in writing whether and when they will handle purchases by AI agents and support the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP).
- If you sell through Galaxus, Digitec or another marketplace, check your product data there for completeness.
